COURSE DESCRIPTION: The course takes writers through the process of developing a television series from concept to completed pilot script.
Beginning with an initial concept, writers will break their story, develop world and characters, decide on A, B, and C-storylines, create an outline, and then write the pilot episode.
Along the way, writers will also work on breaking the full season, creating a logline and synopsis, discovering their why now and why them, writing out a one-pager, preparing a pitch, and creating a bible/deck for the show.
Writers workshop their concepts within the room to help develop their stories and brainstorm ideas when they feel blocked or stuck, they read each others pages, give and receive feedback, and will practice their pitches in the room.
In depth feedback given to students every step of the way through the process.
LOCATION: Mairangi Bay Production and/or via Zoom
COST: $900 plus GST payment options available upon request.

Keren Green is a brilliant teacher, she has deep care for stories and people which really shows in her own work and examples. Never in my life did I think I would ever be able to write a TV show from idea, to pilot, to pitch deck on my own. And somehow in the 12-weeks I was with her, I managed to do that. Through this course, she not only helped me learn important lessons that are applicable for my writing, but in acting and all my other practices in life too. Her professionalism, her experience in multiple-practices and in both NZ and the US industry, and her care makes for the best teacher to dig around in the trenches of writing with. As I’ve said before, she is brilliant and I would 100 percent come back and do this with her again. Maybe I’ll take a season off to digest and clean up and apply the one I made in the last class, it is a lot of work but it is all the well worth it.
