“This intensive 8 week workshop was both challenging and rewarding for us as writers. We gained an understanding of many structural tools, forming a framework for realising our creative ideas into a polished script.
It is worth making space in your schedule to devote time to the exercises and homework, this is a course where you truly get out what you put in.
Giving and receiving feedback during classes helped us to apply the tools in real time, and we rapidly gained familiarity with rules around the language of screenplays.
Keren taught us that screenplays are an artform in their own right, and over the course of this workshop we felt empowered to communicate our ideas on the page without fluff or unnecessary prose.
We found that Keren’s familiarity with the writing industry in LA brought us rapidly up to date and she drilled home several amazing ways to bring characters to life, generate naturalistic structures to our stories and polish our scripts to a fine level.
Keren also dropped practical insights into the world of professional screenwriting and film / TV production that has been invaluable in bringing our own scripts “up to code”. Her own knowledge of film and TV media also meant that she always had a common point of reference for us and could give us accessible examples to illustrate her lessons.
She pushed us beyond our comfort zone through intense writing exercises, awakened in us new perspectives on our writing and sharpened our skills beyond a level we had thought was possible.”
